About Us
We
are honored to have been selected to represent Chapter B2 as Couple of the Year
for 2008. We are looking forward to
a great year with our extended family.
How
did we enter this world of Gold Wings? Well,
it started back in November of 2004 when Cindy left her pot of chicken and
dumplings to answer the phone. On
the other end of the line was
Sandy
, a salesperson from Freewheeling in Douglasville.
She wanted to know if this monthly payment amount would be ok with Mark.
Cindy almost dropped her bottom teeth into the dumpling pot.
I don’t know who was more confused Sandy or Cindy as Cindy tried to
figure out the situation. While
Cindy was at work, Mark had purchased a beautiful, brand new 2005 GL 1800 Gold
Wing. Well, you guessed it, at that
time; Cindy was not a happy camper, but she left her dumplings and headed to
Douglasville to pick up her husband’s brand new toy.
But as time has passed, Cindy has become quite a motorcycle enthusiast
and loves spending time with her husband and friends enjoying the wonderful,
fun-filled adventures the motorcycle brings.
Mark
was born and raised in
Lancaster
,
Pennsylvania
. He spent nine years in the Air
Force as a Security Police Officer. He
traveled through several different bases in the
United States
and a tour of duty in
Seoul
,
Korea
. When he returned to
Pennsylvania
after his stay in the military, he worked on an ambulance in Strasburg for two
years. But, his true love has always
been the Fire Department. When he
came to
Georgia
, he started with the East Point Fire Department.
In 2001, he had the opportunity to transfer to the Paulding County Fire
Department where he is currently serving as a Firefighter/Paramedic.
Cindy
is a true
Georgia
girl. She was born in Villa Rica.
Her father was in the Air Force, so she is also an Air Force brat.
She had twenty-two school transfers during her kindergarten through ninth
grade year, and these transfers probably helped her to make the decision to
become a teacher when she grew up. She
is currently serving as an EIP (Early Intervention Program) teacher at
New
Georgia
Elementary School
in
Paulding
County
. At the end of this school year,
she will have twenty-three years at this school.
Of those years, she spent 19 years teaching fifth grade.
In June, she will complete her Specialist Degree from
Piedmont
College
.
In
June, we will have been married nine years.
Mark and I met in March of 1998 on an internet chat room.
By August, Mark had proposed and Cindy accepted.
In December, Cindy went to
Pennsylvania
and packed his apartment and moved him down to
Georgia
much to her father’s concern. Mark
became one of those dang Yankees. We
are the proud owners of a very spoiled beagle named Lady.
We
joined G.W.R.R.A in December of 2004, but did not join a chapter until early
2005. Mark had found several local
chapters on the national website, so we decided to give the Douglasville chapter
a try. Well, that is all it took.
We were hooked. In B2, we
found a chapter that met our every motorcycle need, but most of all, we found an
extended family. We look forward to
many years enjoying our adventures with our B2 family.
