2010 GA. B-2 Couple of the Year Norman & Wendy Morton |
About Us
Norman and I were surprised and honored that B2 chose us as your 2010 COY.
We have known each other since childhood in Louisville, KY. We went to high school together and were High School Sweethearts. We were married in 1961.
We have 3 children, 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Norman’s job has taken us from Kentucky, to Georgia, to Florida and back to Georgia. He retired from the Bell System after 28 years. Once he retired, I went to work for H&R Block (during tax season only).
Norman enjoys reading, remote control boats and airplanes and golf. Wendy enjoys reading, sewing, quilting, cross stitch and other needlework crafts. We both enjoy riding our Gold Wing - Norman as driver and Wendy as his fair weather passenger.
Norman’s first bike was an old single cylinder 2 stroke Harley that he got when he was 16. When we lived in Tampa, he got a Kawasaki 175 Enduro for himself and got our 10 year old son a Yamaha 80 so they could go dirt biking together. When we moved to Hollywood, FL he purchased a CB 650 Honda.
Norman’s retirement gift to himself was his first brand new bike, a Honda 1100 Shadow, which he still rides occasionally. In 2006 he decided he needed a new bike. The deal was, Wendy had to be able to ride on it with him, and I don’t mean hanging on for dear life, but riding in comfort. In our many, many trips from Florida to Kentucky, I have always seen couples riding down the highway and I always wanted to be the passenger enjoying the view or reading my book. I have always liked the size and look of the Gold Wing, so that’s what we got.
Norman met Grandpa Bob and Walt at Freewheeling Honda one Friday and Bob invited him to the B2 meeting on the following Saturday morning. I wondered why Norman was taking me to breakfast that morning. It was a fun meeting and after the meeting there was the Blessing of the Bikes. We went home and decided to join GWRRA immediately. Our first year with B2 was hit and miss but we did go on a few rides with the group. 2007 was the year we started attending meetings and rides regularly.
We tell every one about our motorcycle Gang
We are looking forward to meeting more friends and enjoying our extended family.
