Posted by Gary on February 14, 2000 at 05:38:28:Its February and another month closer to riding season. Yea, I know Bob, Gene Russ are still riding (Gene never stops except to work and eat ice cream or anything else). Last month six folks stopped by my house for burgers, dogs, chips and a short seminar on team riding. For those of you who couldnt make it, Ill have copies of the GWRRA team riding manual at our February meeting. I hope everyone takes the time to read it and be reminded of our responsibilities while riding as a Team. We had so much fun talking and eating in January that we are going to do this again in February. It will be the third Sunday and Ill have the burgers, dogs, chips, and soda. Come on by and enjoy the food, fellowship and friends while we prepare for another riding season.
If you have a topic that is important to you bring it to my attention and we will try and discuss it at a future meeting. Potential topics include trailering, packing a wing, insurance, maintenance and trip planning. These are just a few of the many topics of interest to Goldwingers. This is an opportunity to share your tips and tricks with others.
From the GWRRA Home Page: Safety tip of the month!
As you ride, three-quarters of your attention should be focused ahead. That's where three-quarters of the accidents are coming from, according to the Hurt study. Assuming your motorcycle is headed at noon on an imaginary clock face, most of your SIPDE efforts should focus between the 11 and 1 o'clock positions. For a little fun try and come up with new meanings for SIPDE (Sent In Payment Didn't Expect your call...) or (Gold Wing Restaurant Raiders Association Scan for restaurants Identify good food for reasonable prices Predict how many wingers it will accommodate (standard: divide by 2, open buffet, divide by 3) Decide what to eat then Execute (eat it) . Idea, curiosity of GWRRA. Dennis might even authorize an extra door prize ticket for each list turned in. How about it Dennis?
Id like to recommend two web sites for those of you that cruise the web when not on the wing. The first is home to James Davis. The author of many safety articles, some of which have appeared in our own newsletter. His site is www.msgroup.org Another site to visit is http://bbs.gwrra.org/gwboard/rider-ed/, this site of course is the GWRRA Rider Education Message Board. Many interesting topics can be found here. There are other message boards also.
